| About the Area . . . |
| Although most of the locations
shown here are within a short drive from the Old Dairy they
are also all within walking distance using the South West coastal
path, just on your doorstep. |
 |
| This part of west Cornwall is blessed
with the mildest climate in the UK - thanks to the Gulfstream
- and has some of the most dramatic and unspoilt coastline
in the country. Here you will find secluded sandy coves,
wide surfing beaches and rocky inlets - the notorious
cover used to land smugglers. |
 |
| The nearest beach, just 5 minutes
drive - or 15 minutes spectacular walk along the coast
path - is Sennen Cove or Whitesand Bay. Here is one
of the finest beaches in the UK with golden sand and
all year surfing. |
 |
| Nanjizal, or Mill Bay can only
be reached on foot, but the 30 min. walk from the Old
Dairy is worth it. Seals are often spotted here and
the memory of this cove will always typify Cornwall
at its unique best. |
 |
| A little further afield, approx.
10 minutes drive, is Porthcurno. Walking down to the
turquoise sea of this sandy cove anyone could be forgiven
for thinking they were on some idyllic Greek island
- especially when confronted with the amphitheatre backdrop
of the open air Minack Theatre, which is carved into
the adjacent cliff. |

 |
| Walking from the Old Dairy you have
direct access to the South West coastal path. From here
you can explore the inlets and headlands which characterize
this area of Cornwall. Head North & it will take you
through Sennen round to Cape Cornwall. Head South and
you will eventually pass through Porthcurno round to
Lamorna Cove. Each stretch of the path brings a joy
to remember. |

 |
| Bird Watching The Old Dairy is a
bird watchers paradise. The south-west tip of Cornwall
is a renowned location in the county for watching migrating
land and sea birds. Rare birds are often sited – we
even had a snowy owl last year (2009). |

 |
| Land’s End itself has a restaurant
and bars. Less than 1/2 mile away is Sennen village
with the famous First and Last Inn. A little further,
down in Sennen Cove, is The Old Success Inn with wonderful
restaurant and pub grub; the newly constructed and highly
acclaimed Beach restaurant; a fish & chip restaurant
and open air café’s. |

 |
| Penzance is 20 minutes drive away.
From here you can sail or fly (by helicopter) to the
Isles of Scilly. Alternatively there are scheduled flights
from Land’s End’s own airport. |
 |
| Penzance has banks, supermarkets,
historic lanes or high street shopping, cinema and restaurants.
The atmosphere is full of maritime history with a fascinating
diversity of arts and crafts. |
 |
| The coastline here is dominated
by St Michael’s Mount – either walk over the causeway
at low tide or take a ferry – it has to be visited.
|
 |
| St Ives - a 30 minutes drive away
- is also a browser/diners haven but still has a vibrant
artistic community with the Tate St Ives establishing
international recognition. |
 |
| The old mining town of St Just is
15 minutes drive away surrounded by the heritage of
this great Cornish industry. On the south coast Lamorna
Cove, Mousehole and Newlyn – harbouring Cornwall’s largest
fishing fleet - are all en-route to Penzance. |
 |
| There is a wealth of gardens and
houses worth visiting in the area. From Trengwainton
in Penzance to Trebah and Glendurgan on the Helford
river. |
 |
| A little further afield is a Cornish
jewel - the Eden Project. Nearby is it’s stablemate
the Lost Gardens of Heligan. |
